James Grant - Player

James "Jim" Grant (Player) - He was a first baseman and a third baseman to who played 9 years in three different leagues. Those baseball league were the Mar-Del Baseball League, Delmar Baseball League and the Central Shore League. Jim played for the Milton Delaware baseball team, the Princess Anne baseball team and the Sharptown Eagles baseball team.
Jim was always a good hitter. During a five year span he had 281 trips to the plate and batted .325. In 1950 he came in second for the Batting Title in the Central Shore Baseball League. In 1951, Jim won the Batting Title in the Central Shore League with a .406 batting average.
Jim loved the game of baseball and enjoyed playing in the Cental Shore League. He said the league was very well rounded and of higher caliber than the Class D Farm Leagues of that era. The league received excellent community support and had outstanding players who played or the love of the game.
