Chester White - Player

Inducted in 1992

Chester played in the early days of baseball on the shore when it was played ONLY on Weekends or Holidays with no night games involved. He played on the Princess Anne Black Hawks, also for Venton and Mount Vernon. He played many games against the Johnson All-Stars, a team from New Jersey. They played before large crowds in Atlantic City and Ocean City, New Jersey. A gifted catcher from the start of his career, he was known for a very strong throwing arm and the ability to dig bad pitches out of the dirt that many other catchers would have watched go by. This earned him the Nickname (DIRTY WHITE) because he always had a dirty uniform from all these bad pitches in the dirt. Chester also was a steady hitter and very well respected by others.
