Granville Lank - Booster

Inducted in 1993

Granville Harrison Lank
Birthdate: September 11, 1900
Birthplace: Snow Hill, Md.

Mr. Lank was truly a Snow Hill sports patriarch. If not for his efforts, the Snow Hill Byrd Baseball Park would not have been possible.
Mr. Lank graduated from Snow Hill High in 1918. He played a little ball in the early 1920's, but it was his work as a booster of the game that he is known. In 1945, Mr. Lank almost singlehandedly tackled the old marshland where the field is now located, and converted it to Byrd Park. He hauled in truck load after truck load of dirt to fill in the low lying land. It was his position as Maintenance Manager of the Street Department for the Town of Snow Hill that led to the construction and caring of the park.
From 1945 to 1950 he managed the Snow Hill Tigers baseball team and made it a force to be reckoned with in the Central Shore League. Granville Lank was inducted into the Eastern Shore Hall of Fame as a booster in 1993. He passed away October 16, 1962.
