Costen Shockley - Player

Inducted in 1995

A Georgetown native, Shockley excelled in football, basketball, and baseball at Georgetown High School during the late 1950's. However, it was his baseball talents as a pitcher and first baseman which caught the eye of professional scouts. He played for Hebron in the Central Shore League before signing with the Philadelphia Phillies. After a brilliant minor league career, the Phillies brought him up in 1964 when he hit .229 and one home run in 11 games. He was traded to the Los Angeles Angels in 1965. He played 40 games, hitting .187 with two homers and 17 RBIs. After retiring he became active in youth programs in the Georgetown area.
