Born to pitch a baseball, this young athlete played ball at Seaford High School where he compiled a 19 1 record. After high school, he pitched for the University of Delaware where he set many pitching records, some of them being games pitched 59, complete games 13, innings pitched 280, strikeouts 224, and wins 28. Highlights of college were in freshman year he had a win and save against Temple in the Southeast Regional Tournament. In 1983 he was 10 1. He was picked in the draft by the Oakland A's and played with Idaho Falls Class "A" where in 68 innings he struck out 50 batters with a ERA in the low 3's. Was Sent to Albany (Class AA) the same season and pitched in one game and developed arm problems due to changing of certain pitches. Had arm surgery that year. Reported to Idaho Falls in 1984, pitched in 8 games with arm not in best of shape. Pitched with Madison in same "A" league in 16 games with 20 K's. His arm did not get better and he decided to give it up, and help out with the community needs.
