Michael J. Hynes - Administrator

Inducted in 1998

This dedicated individual helped start the Eastern Shore League once again in 1983 with four teams, Delmar, Peaky's, Virginia Shores and Pepsi. Mike served as President and Commissioner until 1992. This undertaking included preparation of playing fields, lights, concession stand and Team organization. In 1985 the league expanded to eight teams in three states, with the addition of Frederick Ford, Georgetown, Ocean City & Dover. Mike was instrumental in building this league with a solid foundation. Each year a tryout camp was held at the Wicomico Sports Complex with players from the entire area and assisted by personnel from the Oriole organization. An All Star game was played with players from the North/South competing. Each year a National Amateur Baseball Federation Tournament was held with 12 North East teams trying to win that big trophy. The league was in great shape and Mike stayed with it until the 1992 season was over. He served as Chairman of the Salisbury Board of Zoning for 20 years and served with the Salvation Army for 25 years.
