Arthur “Archie” Ellis - Player

Arthur "Archie" Ellis (Player) - He was the batboy for the Delmar Railroaders of the Central Shore League from 1946 to 1948. Then in 1949, Archie played for the Delmar Railroaders of the Central Shore League until 1957.
After retiring from playing baseball in 1957, Archie would spend the next 27 years umpiring and coaching baseball. He was the Varsity Baseball Coach for Laurel, Delaware High School. Founding member of the Lower Delaware Umpires Association, Umpire of High School and Little League, Coach of Little League, Junior League and Senior League. He was also the key volunteer in the development of the Mason Dixon Sports Complex.
Archie spent around 40 years doing whatever he could to promote the game of baseball.
