Robert “Bobby” Wright - Umpire

Inducted in 2019

Born in Preston, Maryland, Bobby has umpired thousands of baseball and softball games over the course of 50 plus years. In both baseball and softball, he umpired at multiple levels throughout his long career on the Eastern Shore. In college baseball, he worked at Wesley College, Delaware State, and Chesapeake College. In high school, he officiated both baseball and softball for 40 years. In Little League, he umpired all age groups of both baseball and softball for 50 years. Bobby also umpired games in Pony League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion. Among some of his honors are working the first annual Salisbury Invitational High School All-Star Game, now known as the Bayside All-Star Game. He also umpired the Maryland Crown High School All-Star Game at Camden Yards in both 1998 and 1999. Bobby was instrumental in forming the Lower Delaware Baseball Group and the North Bayside Umpire Association. His slogan is "Have Mask, Will Travel!"
