Delino DeShields, Jr. - Player

A native of Easton, Maryland, Delino is the son of veteran major league player Delino DeShields. He was raised in the Atlanta area and went to Woodward Academy, where he played both baseball and football. In his senior year at Woodward, he hit 9 home runs and batted .415, while stealing 29 bases. He was recruited by the Georgia Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels for football before deciding to pursue baseball instead. He was also recruited by the LSU Tigers for baseball. The Houston Astros selected DeShields in the first round, with the eighth overall selection, of the 2010 MLB draft. Delino has played in the majors with the Texas Rangers (2015-2019), the Cleveland Indians (2020), and the Cincinnati Reds (2021).
