Ira "Shires" Franklin Ford (Player) - He played for the Marion Station Town baseball team in the 1930's. From 1942 to 1947, Shires played for the Crisfield Vets baseball team on the Central Shore League. During that time, he has 108 trips to the plate, and had a batting average of .345.
After retiring from playing baseball, Shires was an umpire for 11 years in the Central Shore League. He also umpired for 24 years Little League and Softball games.
Shires loved the game of baseball and was an active part of the game for many years.
